Smile for a Lifetime

Who We Are

Smile for a Lifetime Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization that has helped provide orthodontic treatment for underserved individuals since 2008. It specifically seeks individuals who are in special situations, are struggling financially and who would not otherwise be able to afford orthodontic treatment that could dramatically change their lives.

Our Mission

The mission of the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation is to create self-confidence, inspire hope and change the lives of children in our community in a dramatic way. The gift of a smile can do all this for a deserving underserved individual who can use this gift to "help pay it forward" and better themselves and give back to our community.

What We Do

The Smile for a Lifetime Foundation partners with participating orthodontists across the country by sponsoring selected patients for free orthodontic care. There are currently more than 160 orthodontic offices across 45 states and provinces of Canada with S4L chapters.

Dr. Sheffield established a chapter of Smile for a Lifetime in 2011 to serve the youth in our community. Since that time, he has awarded more than 80 orthodontic scholarships to deserving children who live and attend schools in our neighborhoods. The application process is competitive.

An application can be downloaded from our website. Completed applications should be returned to our office. Twelve students are chosen every year: six each in two application drives that end March 30 and September 30. A Board of Directors is responsible for reviewing each complete application and choosing award recipients.
