Retention

Your beautiful smile does not stop here

Once we remove your braces, you move into the retention stage. To maintain your results in the year after deband, we want to see you for appointments (with your retainers). This phase is known as active retention. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you've put in so far.

Remember what our team told you… Retainers are FOREVER!

Hawley retainers

Hawley_retainer.jpgThe Hawley retainer is a removable retainer made of a combination of metal wires and sturdy acrylic made from scans of your teeth so that it fits snugly and comfortably in the roof of your mouth. The acrylic can be personalized with a large number of colors or patterns.

Fixed retainers

lingualbondedretainer.jpgBonded lingual retainers are cemented directly to the inside surface of your lower canines (eye teeth). This prevents your lower teeth from shifting! As with removable retainers, it is important to keep them clean. When brushing, carefully clean the inside of your lower teeth as well as the wire. If your retainer breaks during the retention phase, do not adjust it yourself. Call us immediately to schedule an appointment.

Clear retainers
